At Leyburn Arts and Community Centre, volunteers are the heart of everything we do, and we’re always looking for additional involvement from members of the community who share in our passion for a connected and vibrant District.

Volunteering looks different for everyone. Whether you can spare a day a week, or just a few hours a month, there are a range of flexible roles and responsibilities we’d love your support with:

Get in touch

Fancy getting social and helping out at our bi-monthly Tuesday Club?

Held every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month (1-4pm), you’ll help create a friendly, warm space for local people.

Volunteers support by:

  • Meeting and greeting
  • Socialising
  • Lending a hand with activities
  • Preparing and serving refreshments

Enjoy a friendly atmosphere and helping others feel at home? Join us at Lunch & Chat!

Taking place every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month (12:00–1.30pm), guests come together to share a two-course lunch followed by coffee and plenty of socialising.

Volunteers support by:

  • Setting up, preparing, cooking and serving lunch
  • Chatting with guests
  • Helping with clear-up afterwards

Love getting involved and making people feel welcome? Join our Café team and help out during community events and activities!

Our licensed community café supports everything from our music and theatre events, to film nights, and special events - serving up a range of drinks and snacks.

Volunteers support by:

  • Serving drinks and snacks
  • Keeping the space tidy and inviting
  • Chatting with guests and creating a warm atmosphere

Enjoy meeting people and being at the heart of the action? Join our reception team!

As the first point of contact at Leyburn Arts and Community Centre, reception plays a key role in creating a warm and helpful environment for visitors and groups using the space. Reception’s also integral to ensuring things run smoothly.

Volunteers support by:

  • Greeting visitors and answering queries
  • Taking and responding to phone calls
  • Preparing rooms and directing groups to the right place
  • Keeping an eye on things and being the go-to person for the morning

Love film and want to help bring it to your local community? Join our Cinema team!

We show a wide mix of films, documentaries, and National Theatre Live broadcasts, and our volunteers are the ones who make it all happen.

Volunteers support by:

  • Choosing films and helping promote screenings as part of our Film Selection Panel
  • Running the technical side of screenings as a Projectionist (training provided)
  • Welcoming guests, setting up the space, and collecting feedback as Front of House
  • Checking tickets and helping on the door as part of our Ticket Checkers team

Do you have a knack for social media or a creative eye? Support us in spreading the word about the Centre, sharing upcoming events and activities, and helping build our local profile through social media, design, and local advertising.

Volunteers support by:

  • Posting updates on our Facebook, Instagram, and website
  • Creating and sending email newsletters via Mailchimp
  • Designing eye-catching posters, flyers, brochures, and other promotional materials
  • Delivering Cinema & Event flyers in Leyburn and surrounding villages

Love working with your hands and fixing things? Our Centre’s in use 7 days a week, so there’s always something that needs a little TLC.

Join our team to help keep the Centre running smoothly by supporting repairs, maintenance, and general upkeep.

Volunteers support by:

  • Carrying out small repairs and maintenance tasks
  • Helping with equipment checks and fixes
  • Assisting with general upkeep of fixtures and fittings

Enjoy getting your hands dirty and spending time outdoors? Join our friendly gardening team and help keep the Centre’s outdoor spaces looking their best.

Our volunteer gardeners play a crucial role in raising funds for the Centre.

Volunteers support by:

  • Re-potting, dead-heading, and light pruning
  • Mowing the lawn and general garden upkeep
  • Preparing plants for sale in spring and summer
  • Helping out at our twice-yearly Plant Fayres

Regular sessions take place on Tuesday mornings – pop by and see what we’re up to!

All funds raised from plant sales and fayres support the Centre, and fruit from the garden even makes its way into our lunch club puddings. Your help can make a huge difference! 

Enjoy planning, organising, and making things happen? Join our volunteer team and help deliver projects that support the Centre’s growth and positive community impact.

Volunteers support by:

  • Helping plan and coordinate new developments
  • Supporting with timelines, tasks, and resources
  • Assisting with budgeting and decision-making

Enjoy bringing people together, getting stuck into a good cause, or have a knack for organisation? Fundraising plays a big part in keeping the Centre running, and we’re always looking for volunteers to help plan and deliver community-minded events - from live music and theatre nights to plant fayres and community fundraisers.

Volunteers support by:

  • Helping plan, schedule, and run regular fundraising events
  • Supporting with set-up, welcome, and activities on the day
  • Assisting with the 100 Club monthly draw
  • Contributing to creative fundraising ideas and campaigns
