About Us

History

Welcome to Leyburn Arts & Community Centre, affectionately known as The Old School House (TOSH) by our local residents. A beloved part of Leyburn's history, the building has been a vital community space bringing people together for generations.

Originally built in 1836 as the RC school of St Peter & St Paul, the building served both Catholic and non-Catholic families for 176 years. In 2011, with declining student numbers, the school closed its doors – but the building was given a new purpose for the benefit of the local parish and wider Leyburn & Wensleydale communities.

Today, we’re an established community centre enriching the lives of residents and visitors across the region while preserving TOSH’s legacy.
